Loisjean O'Hara (nee Bear), 98, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2025. Born on June 28, 1927, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Paul S. and Mabel Geraldine Bear, Loisjean lived a life filled with creativity, adventure, and love for her family and country. Growing up with two older sisters, Mildred and Marian, and a younger brother Karl, Loisjean embraced an adventurous lifestyle. After high school, at the encouragement of her mother, Loisjean embarked on a career as a Civil Servant for the US Government, becoming one of the first women to work at the Pentagon. During her tenure, she created a program honoring retired service dogs and worked on numerous classified projects.
Loisjean was an exceptionally talented seamstress and crafter. She lovingly sewed clothing for her children when they were young and later created formal gowns for her granddaughter. Her creative pursuits extended to painting ceramics with her daughters, creating intricate cross stitch and needlepoint projects, and quilting. She loved reading mysteries and sharing stories of her life with her friends and family.
A proud Hoosier at heart, Loisjean cherished her Indiana roots and summers spent at Michigan lakes. Her travels took her to nearly every state, with Virginia holding a special place in her heart. She ultimately settled in St. Charles, Missouri, where she spent her final years, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoying a good card game.
Loisjean is survived by her daughter, Cheri Wright (Kevin); grandchildren Lorrie Robertson (Thomas), Annie Blank-Robison (Travis), Bethany Blank (Samantha Gianoulis) Rae Harris, Rayshaun Harris, Victoria Morris, and Daniel Blank; great-grandchildren Nicole, Olivia, Quinn, and Whitney Robertson; beloved caregivers Ashley Ashby and Carol Myers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Rex O'Hara, daughter Nancy Payne-Blank, parents, and siblings.
