Dwight Robert O'Hara of Andover, MA. passed away unexpectedly at age 58, in his home on October 8, 2025. Born in Methuen in 1967, he was the beloved son of Mary Ellen Reade (Winn) O'Hara and the late Richard O'Hara, M.D.

Nicknamed "Dewey," he was a lifelong resident of Andover. He graduated from Austin Preparatory School and continued his education at Merrimack College. He went on to build a career in automotive sales, where his natural charisma and gift for storytelling made him a trusted professional, colleague and friend.

Dewey was a devoted and loving father to Andrew A. O'Hara, whom he affectionately called his "North Star." Their bond was deep, enduring, and filled with shared passions, laughter, and music. Dewey's love for Drew was the guiding light of his life.

He was a treasured brother to Carolyn Shannon (Michael), Richard O'Hara, Jr. (Holly), Christopher O'Hara (Elissa), Alyson Donlon (Hugh), Sheridan O'Hara, Matthew O'Hara (Kristen) and James O'Hara. Dwight was incredibly proud of his 14 nieces and nephews.

Dewey's zest for life was evident in activities he cherished. In his youth, he developed a deep love for golf and fishing. He was a passionate supporter of New England sports teams, especially the Patriots. Holidays held a special place in Dewey's heart. He adored July 4th celebrations and fireworks at the family home on the Cape. He loved Christmas so much, his tree remained up year-round, a symbol of his enduring, hopeful spirit.

Known for his empathy, gentle nature and kind heart, Dewey had a way of making others feel valued. He loved being with friends and family, and his joy came from sharing stories and learning about others' lives. He had a quick wit and his love for animals was almost as legendary as his love for bacon, both of which he celebrated with enthusiasm.

A proud Deadhead, Dewey found solace and joy in music, notably, the Grateful Dead. He and Drew attended concerts together. They enjoyed evenings spent outside with neighbors, music playing, stories flowing and friendships deepening.

Dewey's legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. He leaves behind a community of family, friends, and neighbors who were touched by his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness. He'll be deeply missed by his family and all who cherished his uniquely good nature.

Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025: 9:30am-11:00am at St. Augustine's Parish, 43 Essex St, Andover, MA. His Celebration of Life Mass follows at 11:00am. Burial will be held privately by the family.
