Lola Huskins Beam, 93, of Nebo, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Mountain Health and Rehab.
A native of Mitchell County, Lola was born March 4, 1930 to the late George Huskins and Beatrice Ledford Huskins.
She was a former member of New Horizon Baptist Fellowship. She enjoyed oil painting, dancing, and listening to music. Lola will be remembered as a talented seamstress and an excellent cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Lewis Beam; brother, Scott Huskins; and great-great granddaughter, Chesni Farmer.
She is survived by three children, Terry Beam (Barbara), Dennis Beam (Denise), and Gail Shaver (Ray); seven grandchildren, Chad Beam (Jill), Brandi Cox (Raymond), Kristi Boone (Travis), Kim Laughter (Anthony Brown), Michelle Padgett (Jon), Justin Beam (Carissa), and Matthew Beam (Nikki); fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Brenda Williams (Paul); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Beam Celebration Center with Rev. Phil Murdock and Rev. Kenny Staton officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the celebration center.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Mountain Ridge for the excellent care they provided Lola.
