Lonna L. (Hoel) Leidal, age 79, of Menomonie, WI passed away on Sunday, September 24 at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI. She was born on February 6, 1944 in Albert Lea, MN to Alice (Iverson) Hoel and Aulger Hoel of Lake Mills, IA. Lonna grew up in Lake Mills and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1962.
Lonna married LeRoy (Lee) Leidal on August 23, 1964 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, IA and had three daughters. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was a teacher of Head Start, then elementary grades in Aledo, IL while the family lived there. She and Lee then owned a shoe store in Hudson, WI for a few years. Lonna returned to reaching and completed her professional career as an EBD teacher at E.P. Rock Elementary School in Hudson.
Following retirement, Lee and Lonna packed their bags and headed to sunny, warm AZ where they enjoyed camping and traveling. They returned to Menomonie in 2019 to be near family. Lonna enjoyed the relationships she established at the Village at White Pine and moved to Comforts of Home next door following Lee's death in 2021. Lonna loved music, days at the lake, shopping, ATV riding, playing cards, and spending time with family.
Lonna is survived by her daughters Marni (Brad) Waznik, Jana Leidal (Buck Larson), and Leigh (Kevin) Alexander; five grandchildren, Bryan, Dana, Brett Waznik and Kyle and Ben Alexander; a sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Tom Christianson; and brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Becky Leidal; nieces, and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many wonderful family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee, her parents, Aulger and Alice Hoel, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Charlotte Hoel, nephew, Jeffrey Hoel.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 9 at 2p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI, with Pastor Heather Wigdahl officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will continue after the service at Tanglewood Greens in Menomonie with food, beverages, and remembrances. Olson Funeral Home, of Menomonie, is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Stepping Stones of Dunn County or CurePSP are appreciated.
