Lonnie Earl Barger

Lonnie Earl Barger, 74 of Lonoke went to his eternal home Saturday October 7, 2023. Lonnie was born August 26, 1949 in Little Rock to the late Elmer Earl Barger and Clara Bell Dodson. In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Tommy Barger of Pine Bluff and Danny Barger of Lonoke; his sister, Barbara Schroder of Lonoke; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Barger.
Lonnie worked in the painting industry most of his working career, retiring in 2013 after twenty-one years of being a partner of Barger's Painting, LLC with his son L.J. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing "Santa Paw's" at Christmas, and judging the Easter egg decorating contest for his grandkids. In his spare time, Lonnie enjoyed cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks, playing golf with family and friends, and winning at everything. Lonnie was a member and deacon at Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years Sue Barger; three sons, L.J. (Marissa) Barger of Lonoke, Shawn Payton of Hot Springs, and Jason Payton of McRae; one daughter, Debra Solt of Benton; ten grandkids, Kaila Payton, Savanna (Michael) Massie, Sabrina Barger, Daniel and David Owens, Payj and Jill Payton, Nick (Misty), Patricia, and Melissa Sweet; five great-grandkids, Kaden, Kinsley, Keegan, Malachi and David; as well as numerous other family and friends.
