Lonnie Lee Bolen, Jr., 28, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully on the evening of August 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born November 18,1996 in North, South Carolina, Lonnie was the cherished son of Tammy Elizabeth (Shepherd) Bolen and Lonnie Lee Bolen Sr. From the time he was young, Lonnie had a rare gift for making people feel valued and seen. He carried himself with kindness, compassion, and an unshakable positivity that inspired those around him.

Lonnie believed deeply in lifting others up and celebrating their successes. He was ambitious, hardworking, and passionate about life. He was always chasing big dreams and encouraging others to do the same. His love for Texas was matched only by his love for his family, friends, and faith. A member of First Baptist Church of North, South Carolina, Lonnie enjoyed worshipping and growing in Christ as a youth, forming a foundation of faith that carried him through life's greatest challenges.

In June of 2024, Lonnie was diagnosed with cancer, and for the next 14 months, he faced the disease with unmatched courage and grace. Against incredible odds, he fought with determination and faith, never letting his illness define him. His strength was a beacon to all who knew him, and his life was a living testament to resilience and hope.

Lonnie is survived by his devoted wife, Nicole Michelle (Rothell) Bolen and their beloved son, Lonnie Lee Bolen III, both of Greensboro, North Carolina; parents, Tammy and Lonnie Sr., of North, South Carolina; sisters, Annabelle Bolen (20) and Katie Bolen (23); grandmother, Connie Hall of Swansea, South Carolina; great grandmothers, Carolyn Hall of Orangeburg and Louise Chavis (and husband, Junior) of Bowman, South Carolina; aunts; uncles; cousins; and dear friends who will forever treasure the time they had with him.

Those who knew Lonnie will remember his unwavering optimism, his quiet strength, and the way he made people feel like family. His life was short in years but immeasurable in impact.

A celebration of Lonnie's life will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, 2:00 PM, at North Baptist Church in North, South Carolina (405 Stafford Avenue, North, South Carolina 29112). The service will also be livestreamed on the Lonnie's Journey Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

In honor of Lonnie's fun-loving spirit, guests are welcome to wear tuxedo t-shirts, just as he often did during his high school years.

As we say goodbye for now, we hold fast to the promise that "He's not done" and that Lonnie's legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched.

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Phillipians 1:6
