Lonnie Dean Breitung passed away on March 1, 2024, at Ellsworth Health Services, where he had resided for the past three months. He was born on February 9, 1946 in Wabasha, Minnesota to the late Cornelius and Ethel (Wohlferd) Breitung. Lonnie spent the majority of his life in Pepin, Wisconsin.
In his younger years, Lonnie worked on local farms and sawmills before transitioning to various factory roles in the region. His dedication was evident in his longest tenure at Federal Mogul, a foundry in Lake City, Minnesota. Beyond his work life, Lonnie cherished the outdoors and delighted in spending time with his grandchildren.
Lonnie is survived by his loving children, Stacie (Steve Bodart) Breitung and Jason (Sherry) Breitung, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Cory Heitman, Nichole (Ben) Peterson, McKenzie Doelle Breitung, and McKenna Meincke. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Claire Rasmussen, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Ethel, sister Betty Snyder, and brothers Cameron, Donald, Neil, and Daniel.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Lonnie will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pepin Lions Club, located at 300 Eighth Street, Pepin, WI. A private burial will be held at a later date.
May Lonnie's memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
