Lonnie Hessenflow Obituary

Lonnie James Hessenflow, affectionately named by his adoring wife, "The Gentle Giant," 56 of Bergman, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, Aug. 27 (2022).
He was born on April 4, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Daniel Newton Sr. and Deborah Lynn Vines Hessenflow. He was a lifelong resident of Bergman and a member of the 13 Rebels. Lonnie will always be remembered for his unfailing strength, his overwhelming commitment to family, and a heart much larger than this world could hold. He may have appeared to those just meeting him to be this hugely imposing Goliath of a man, but in truth, he was the gentlest, kindest, and most loving man you would ever be honored to call friend. Lonnie was a larger-than-life presence in not only his family's lives, but also that of his community.
He was loved and admired by many, and he will be missed tremendously by all. His kind heart, his quick wit, and his endless capacity to love will forever be honored in his memory and carried on by those who continue his legacy.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Hessenflow Sr.
His surviving family members are his wife of 37 years, Jeannie Woolley Hessenflow, of Bergman; his mother, Debbie Hessenflow, of Bergman; two children, Jamie Lemley and her husband, Chad, and Zach Hessenflow and his wife, Brooklyn, all of Bergman; four grandchildren, Kendall Lemley, and Averie, Finley and Daxton Hessenflow, all of Bergman; his brother, D.J. Hessenflow, of Loganville, Georgia; three sisters, Suzi Hessenflow and her wife, Stephanie, Deanna Pasterniak and her husband, Brian, and Jodi Patton and her husband, Del, all of Loganville, Georgia; as well as his father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Ann Woolley, of Bergman; many nephews, nieces and other family members; and his brothers of the 13 Rebels, who will all miss him dearly.
A family conducted memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Silver Valley Church with Pastor Rodney Stromlund officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
