Lonnie Keene, Jr. Obituary

Visit the James & Sikes Funeral Homes - Maddox Chapel website to view the full obituary.

Lonnie Horace Keene Jr. was born on April 3, 1937. Lonnie passed from this world on October 10, 2025. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Lonnie traveled the world and shared his musical talent of opera with many adoring fans. Lonnie continued to share his love of the humanities by teaching at Chipola College and made learning come alive for his students.

He was lovingly cared for by his good friend and guardian Lori Argo. Lori provided care for Lonnie for many years. She assembled a team of caregivers headed up by Rhoda Moody that gave Lonnie the best possible care. This team of ladies consisted of Rhoda Moody, Alania Moody, Frannie Williams, and Amy Smith. We are so thankful for the love and support they gave Lonnie.

Lonnie is survived by his cousins, Bunny Parish, Dick Bennett, and Sandy Priscott.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2549 Woods View Drive, Marianna, Florida, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Our minds are at peace because we know Lonnie is singing with the angels.

“I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”

(Psalm 9:2).

“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.”

(Psalm 73:23-24).
