Lonnie Gene Reker

Lonnie Gene Reker, age 87, of Fremont died Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Pathfinder Place in Fremont.

Lonnie was born on a farm in North Bend, Neb., to Theodore and Laura 'Lackas' Reker. The family moved to Fremont when Lonnie was two years old and continued to live in Fremont the rest of his life. He graduated from Fremont High in 1956 and married Shirley Riley on November 16th, 1958. He joined the Army Reserves after high school and opened a gas station in downtown Fremont. In 1971 he started working at Flynn & Larsen. He loved working on diesel trucks and any car for that matter. He finished his working career at Fremont Contract Carriers in 2003. Lonnie served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 29 years and worked at Habitat For Humanity for 14 years. He loved building or fixing anything he could get his hands on. He loved spending time with family.

Lonnie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont and the Fremont Eagles Aerie #200.

Survivors are his daughters, Nyla (Chuck) Bodfield and Vickie Reker (Sam Holley); grandchildren, Ashley (Ethan) Bock, Cameron Bodfield, Taylor Bodfield (Will Pittman), Alex Kohl (Jess Lusche) and Lauren Kohl(Michael Martin); four great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Burbach.

The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church or Habitat for Humanity.
