Lonnie Smith, 69, of Liberal, passed away on Monday February 9, 2026 at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center.
He was born on March 6, 1956 to Harold and Joan (Flickner) Smith in Liberal, KS.
Lonnie was a graduate of Liberal High School and had worked at Standard Supply for many years before his health deteriorated. Lonnie was an "early bird"; he spent many days drinking coffee with his father at Mr. Breakfast. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, listening to music, tinkering on cars, riding his motorcycle, and collecting little gadgets. He also liked watching Star Trek, Westerns, and the Liberal Bee Jays. He had attended Emmanuel Southern Baptist and First Southern Baptist Churches in Liberal.
Lonnie is survived by his Mother, Joan Smith of Liberal; Daughter, Rachelle (Jason) Peterson of Fort Worth, TX; Son, Zachary Smith of Salina, KS; Granddaughter, Mercedes Murray of San Diego, CA; Great-Granddaughter, Elvie.
He was preceded in death by Father, Harold Lynn Smith and Sister, Cathy Batman.
There will be no viewing and his family will have their own private gathering. Cremation has taken place.
