Lonnie Stephenson was born on July 4th, 1928 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. He was the son of Lena Harris and Robert Stephenson.
Achievements:

Professional Achievements:
At the tender age of approximately 17, Lonnie Stephenson embarked on a journey from Murfreesboro, NC, to Paterson, NJ, in pursuit of a better life. His unwavering work ethic and determination propelled him into the textile industry. Despite humble beginnings, Lonnie's innate talent and relentless pursuit of excellence led him to master the intricate art of warping. Through self-teaching and dedication, he ascended from a novice warper to a managerial role at the River Warping Company within a mere 3 years. Renowned for his expertise, Lonnie's leadership not only revolutionized the company but also became a beacon of inspiration for generations to come. Eventually, spurred by his entrepreneurial spirit and the steadfast encouragement of Marian Stephenson, the love of his life, he acquired the River Edge Warping Company, establishing himself as one of the pioneering black business owners in downtown Paterson. His silk mill, the last standing testament in Paterson's historic district,
epitomized his dedication to his craft and his community. Lonnie Stephenson's legacy as an industry icon and visionary leader will forever resonate in the annals of Paterson's rich history. Lonnie Stephenson distinguished himself as a trailblazer, being among the earliest black entrepreneurs to establish a presence in downtown Paterson. Additionally, Lonnie's legacy
transcends mere entrepreneurship; he was recognized as an esteemed figure in Paterson's cultural narrative, commemorated as an icon in an exhibition at the revered Paterson Museum.
Church Service:
In the hallowed halls of Gilmore Tabernacle Look & Live Ministries, a humble yet resolute figure emerged in 1985. Lonnie Stephenson, with an unwavering devotion and a heart ablaze with faith, took on the mantle of a Deacon. Under the wise guidance of the late Bishop Clarence Gilmore and the esteemed Reverend Doctor Eileen Gilmore, Lonnie's commitment to his spiritual calling flourished. Through the passage of time, as seasons changed and faces faded, Lonnie's steadfast presence remained constant. With each Sunday service and every whispered prayer, he embodied the essence of devotion and service under the leadership of the Reverend Doctor Thomas P. Farrar.
Special Facts:
