Lora Lynne Putnam (née Muir) of Akron, Ohio, made her journey to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was born on November 6, 1961, the beloved daughter of Edward and Thelma Muir.
Lora was a graduate of Ellet High School in Akron, where she participated in the band as a pompom girl. Her life was grounded in devotion to her family, whom she worked tirelessly to support through life’s challenges and joys.
Above all, Lora cherished being a grandmother. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Lacey.
Lora had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed summers at Roger’s Flea Market, thrifting and garage sales. She had a special flair for vintage shabby chic style in her home. She dreamed of one day traveling to the English countryside. She also enjoyed reading, hiking in earlier years, biking the towpath and riding the train back, camping, puzzles and WNIR.
During Lora’s 40 year career, she carried out her work with dedication, integrity—marked by a reputation for dependability. She especially enjoyed that part of her life. Early on she went from housewife to single mom working tirelessly to support and raise her family. She was the office manager for an insurance adjustment company for 30 years and for the past decade, she was an administrative assistant for a law firm. Though she was looking forward to retirement, she continued to give her best to all she did.
Lora will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Thelma Muir; son, Brett Putnam; daughter, Katie Putnam (Tom Bratner); granddaughter, Lacey; sisters, Lisa Muir and Chris Muir (Brian Villers); nieces and nephews: Leah (Danny) Maturano, Nathaniel (Paige) Muir, Chloe Muir, and Brody Muir-Johnson. Great niece and nephews: Cora Muir, Lucas & Micah Maturano; her aunt, Lynne Krzykoski (Steve); her uncle, Fred (Diane) Hembree; her beloved dog, Princess, and her cat—Kitty; along with many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Muir; grandparents, Luther and Virginia Muir, and Ezekiel and Lora Hembree; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her fiancé , Tom Miller.
Lora left this world far too soon. Words cannot fully express the depth of the loss felt by those who loved her, yet her family remains grateful to God for the time they were blessed to share with her.
A private graveside service will be at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio. A Celebration of Life is being planned for June 2026.
Adams Mason Funeral Home was entrusted with Lora's care. 330-535-9186
