Lora Reeves Obituary

Lora Ann Reeves, a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at her home after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was born on July 12, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, the oldest of nine children born to Delos and Alice Butenhoff. As the eldest sibling, Lora often cared for her younger brothers and sisters, forming deep, lifelong bonds and igniting her love for family from an early age. At a young age, she and her family relocated to Oklahoma City, where she grew up. During her years at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, Lora excelled as a track star. Throughout her life, she remained a devoted Catholic, loving Jesus and cherishing her family.

Lora dedicated much of her life to the medical field, ultimately becoming a paramedic. She spent part of her career serving as a paramedic at Remington Park, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

A true lover of life’s simple pleasures like fruits with salt and Diet Pepsi. Lora felt most at home outdoors. She enjoyed water skiing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, tending to her pool that hosted many of the families Fourth of July celebrations, and nurturing her beautiful flower beds. She was an avid sports enthusiast, especially devoted to football and Oklahoma State University. Lora enjoyed all kinds of music and loved attending concerts. She also had a deep passion for capturing memories and arts and crafts. Holidays were especially meaningful to her; she was all about Christmas and the Fourth of July.

When Lora loved, she loved deeply. She loved being a mother and cherished her daughters, Ann and Robin. Her love expanded even further with the arrival of her grandchildren. A central part of Lora’s life was her marriage to her beloved husband of 46 years, Dennis Reeves. Dennis, a father of 3, swept her off her feet when she was a single mother to Ann and Robin, and together they built a beautiful, loving family. Their marriage was filled with unwavering love, affection, shared joys, and the resilience to overcome life’s hardships. Lora treasured their life together the laughter, the quiet moments, the celebrations, and even the challenges which shaped the foundation of the warm, close-knit family she so cherished. In her later years, Lora devoted herself to caring for her youngest daughter, Robin, remaining by her side until her passing. Lora’s unwavering love and dedication to her family never wavered; she cared for those she loved until the very end. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends. She was deeply involved with those she loved, always present, supportive, and wholeheartedly connected. Her absence will be felt every day, but her love, laughter, and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Reeves, her daughter, Ann Pendleton, and daughters by marriage Sandy Reeves, who lovingly cared for Lora during her final 2 years, and Sherri Reeves, and son by marriage, Mike Reeves. Additional survivors include four brothers, Mark, Billy, Bobby, and Jimmy Butenhoff; two sisters, Jo Crouch and Helen Schwarz; grandchildren: Joshua Baker, Alexandria Baker, Andrew Stephens, Hannah Cuka, Matthew Cuka, Justice Gayhart, Elisha Reeves, Erika Martin, and Taylor Snell; great grandchildren, Lily Baker, Adam Baker, Andrew Jr. Stephens, Carson Stephens, Brenden Stephens, Grayson Gayhart, Melody Reeves, Freya Martin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Mitchell, daughter, Robin Cuka, and a grandson, Danny Reeves.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 5pm - 7pm at Smith & Kernke on N. May. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 12pm at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove Ave. Burial will be Friday at 3pm at Boss Cemetery in Boss, Missouri.
