Lore Crunkleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Posey Funeral Directors - North Augusta on Dec. 10, 2025.
Beech Island, SC- Mrs. Lore Crunkleton, 92, entered into rest December 9th, 2025, at her home. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, December 19th, at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steven Drawdy and Pastor Greg Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10 until 11 o'clock.

Lore was born on November 30th, 1933, to the late Julius and Emma Altvater. She was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany during World War II. Lore met David Crunkleton while he was stationed in Stuttgart and soon thereafter, they married and she immigrated from Germany to the United States at the age of 22. She supported her husband and family throughout David's service career in the U.S. Army for 25 years. For the past 53 years, Lore has called Beech Island, SC her home. She retired from Augusta Hearing and Speech where she served as an office manager. Lore was a member of Second Baptist Church of Beech Island.

Lore valued the simple things in life. She cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, taking every opportunity to celebrate in their accomplishments. Lore genuinely cared for others, loved to laugh, and see people happy. She was a great appreciator of music and thoroughly enjoyed opera. Lore loved nature and found joy in bird watching, with hummingbirds and cardinals being her favorite.

In addition to her parents, Lore is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David D. Crunkleton; her brothers, Peter and Rolf; her sisters, Giesela, Marga, and Christina. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her sister, Heidi Altvater; children, Linda Corbin (Jerry), Diane Crunkleton (Gio), Gary Crunkleton (Rene), and John Crunkleton (Kim); seven grandchildren, Sally Crunkleton, Melissa Singletary (Jon), Ashley Farmer (Greg), David Crunkleton (Jessica), Jessie Williams (Greg), Jake Corbin, and Madison Crunkleton; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Farmer, Charlie Farmer, Kate Singletary, Wyatt Singletary, Dailye Williams, and Laura Williams.

Pallbearers will be Jake Corbin, Greg Farmer, Nicholas Farmer, Charlie Farmer, Jon Singletary, and David Crunkleton.

Aunt Lore had a sweet gentle spirit about her and when Crunkleton Reunions at Paw and Granny Crunkleton´s we always looked forward to seeing Doug, Lore and all the cousins from 12 Crunkleton siblings of our mom, Peggy Crunkleton Milford. Great memories! I especially remember her gifting me with red silk pajamas from Germany.. I think! I had never had anything so beautiful as a teen. Mama loved Aunt Lore so much! It gives me joy knowing they have reunited! Prayers for all the family! She was precious!
