The world became a brighter place on July 4, 1945 when Lorene Elizabeth Martin was born. Lorene grew up in England, AR and was the daughter of John Martin and Jessie Crow Martin.
Lorene married the love of her life on March 20, 1964, and they had 59 wonderful years together.
Lorene was a very proud and devoted mama to her two children, and a doting Nanny to her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Lorene was called home by Jesus on November 1, 2023, to worship Him for all eternity. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her husband, James R. Carpenter Sr.; daughter, Debbie Shewmake (Tony); son, James R. Carpenter Jr. (Kristi); grandchildren, Brett Carpenter (Savanna), Brittany Burns (Jerod), Brooke Bell, Haley Turpitt (Caleb), Courtney Lawson (Chad), Rebecca (Becca), and Alexx Carpenter; great grandchildren, Malaki Denham, Ty Wyant, Hayden Burns, Matthew Bell, Connor Turpitt, Kingston Carpenter; brothers, Floyd Martin (Barbara), Roy Martin (Jo Ann), Johnny Martin (Kathy), Walter Martin (Carol); sisters, Juanita Williams, Gracie Binz; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorene was loved by so many people and was a wonderful woman known for her great cooking and baking skills. She was always willing to help anyone in a time of need.
Lorene is proceeded in death by her parents; John and Jessie Martin; mother-in-law Burnelle Ragsdale; brothers William Martin, David Martin, Irvin Martin; sister Violet Breeding.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Service will be Wednesday, November 8th at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Internment will follow at 12:00 PM at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tony Shewmake, Brett Carpenter, Caleb Turpitt, Chad Whitfield, Johnathan Martin, and Timothy Martin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Shane Lawson, James E. Carpenter, Terry Johnson, and Danny Williams.
