Lucas Funeral Home - GrapevineDavid Edward Carpenter, 75, passed away on January 30, 2026 in Argyle, Texas following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family.
As a young man, David proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1974 while stationed in Taipei, Taiwan. David also earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Pittsburgh.
David enjoyed a successful decades-long career in banking and finance, starting with a position with Mellon Bank in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His career moved his family to Atlanta, Georgia and then ultimately to Southlake, Texas as he took roles with Contel, GTE/Verizon and Travelocity. David retired from the Rent-A-Center corporation in 2013 as Vice President of Investor Relations, where he served as the top liaison between the company’s executive leadership and the investment community.
David was an avid golfer, enthusiastic personal investor, and enjoyed working in his yard and completing DIY projects at home. He was a White’s Chapel Methodist Church member for 22 years. He was also a foodie and loved gathering with his family around the dinner table to enjoy great meals and most importantly, delicious desserts.
Above all else, David was devoted to his family. He loved being a father and a grandfather and showed up for his family in every way possible. He was home for dinner every night; he attended every school function and helped with homework; he provided ongoing guidance and support as his children grew into adults; and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Carpenter, of Southlake; children Sarah Andreani and her husband Carlo of Keller; Emily Ward and her husband Jeff of Colleyville; and by his grandchildren Evelyn and Charlotte Andreani of Keller; and Isla and Avery Ward of Colleyville.
On Thursday, February 26th, a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at White’s Chapel Methodist Church, Southlake, in Grace Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to White’s Chapel Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
