Lorene Edwards Obituary

DYER CHAPEL-Velma Lorene Edwards, known affectionately to all as Lorene, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on June 23, 1948, in Putnam County, TN, Lorene's life was a testament to the virtues of love and generosity that she embodied every day.

Lorene was the cherished daughter of the late Everett Lee Dyer and Mary Irene Rector Dyer. Her life journey was shared with her beloved husband, Willard Edwards, until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Mike Dyer, and her sister, Louise Mayberry.

Despite these losses, Lorene's spirit remained unbroken, and her capacity for love only grew. She is survived by her son, Steven Edwards; her brothers, Charles (Evelyn) Dyer, Ronnie Dyer, Ricky Dyer, and Richard (Judy) Dyer, along with her sister-in-law, Linda Dyer.

Lorene's life was characterized by her role as a homemaker, a title she wore with pride and excellence. She was a pillar of strength and support, not only to her family but also to her community. As a member of Baxter Church of Christ, she lived her faith through action, offering kindness and compassion to all those around her.

Her love extended to the earth itself, as Lorene was an avid gardener. Her garden was not just a source of beauty but also nourishment, as she canned the fruits of her labor and generously shared them with friends. Her selflessness was further evident in her role as a caregiver. Lorene was the embodiment of hard work, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Those who knew Lorene will remember her as a loving and generous soul. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a joy, and her guidance a treasure. Lorene's legacy is one of unwavering love and the selfless giving of herself to the wellbeing of others.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on Tuesday from 5 to 8pm and on Wednesday from 12 to 1pm at Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate Lorene's life will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, with the interment to follow at Alex Byers Cemetery. It is there that Lorene will be laid to rest, next to her husband Willard.

Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-7158 Share condolences and memories at dyerfh.com.
