Ruth Craig Obituary

DYER CHAPEL-Ruth Ann Craig, born on May 12, 1949, in Detroit, MI, passed away peacefully at her home in Cookeville, TN, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the age of 76. Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished member of her community. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her family, faith, and interests that brought her joy.

Ruth is survived by her devoted husband, Harry Craig of Cookeville; her two daughters, Kim Marie Craig and Kelly Ann Craig, also from Cookeville; and her sister, Lynn (Don) MacLeod of Gross Pointe Woods, MI. They, along with many friends and loved ones, will continue to hold her memory close to their hearts.

Ruth's passions included collecting Beanie Babies and glass figurines, pursuits that showcased her playful spirit and love for the intricate beauty of these items. She found joy in simple pleasures and treasured each piece in her collection as a reflection of moments in her life.

Her faith was evidenced by her attendance at One Eleven Fellowship Church, where she drew strength and inspiration. Ruth cherished the bonds formed within her church community and valued the spiritual journey she shared with her fellow congregants.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Curtis and Ruth Fern Gerlach Franzel, and her brother, Ricky Franzel. Their legacy and love undoubtedly shaped the caring and compassionate woman Ruth became.

Visitation will be held at Dyer Chapel located at 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, TN. Friends and family are invited to honor Ruth’s memory during the following times: on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, February 10, at 1:00 PM. Bro. Roger Cooper will officiate. Entombment will follow in Crest Lawn Mausoleum.
