Lorene Walker Obituary
SHELBY: Nancy Lorene Walker, born on January 3, 1943, in Cleveland County, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, in Cherokee County at the age of 82.
Lorene dedicated 38 years of her life working diligently at PPG, where she formed lifelong friendships and impacted those around her with her kindness and strong work ethic. Her heart was full of joy when she danced, traveled, and shared memorable bus trips with her sister and friends. Garden City Pier held a special place in her heart. Camping was another beloved pastime that brought her closer to nature and her loved ones.
A devoted member of Westview Baptist Church, Lorene 's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was known for her warm and generous spirit, always ready to lend a comforting word.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Roy and Lucille Norman; her cherished husband, Jimmy "Jim" Walker; and her dear daughter, Kim Cody.
Lorene leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her daughter, Krystal Jordan husband Chad of Blacksburg, SC; sisters, Nellie Weaver of Shelby and Mary Love and husband Olin of Blacksburg, SC; sister-in-law, Barbara Towery of Staley; granddaughter, Kelly Hayes of Lawndale; and three precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friend, Buddy Martin of Blacksburg, SC; special caregivers, great niece Shannon Webb and son Brent Webb of Candler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her warmth and love.
A funeral service to celebrate Lorene 's life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Clay Barnette Funeral Home, with Rick Bowling officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lorene wished to leave behind a legacy of love, encouraging everyone to embrace each other with kindness and compassion. Her gentle spirit and profound love for those around her will be deeply missed but forever cherished. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby, you can do so with the link provided below.
