Lorenzo V. Pena December 25, 1941 – September 22, 2025 Lorenzo V. Pena of San Antonio, Texas entered eternal rest on September 22, 2025 at the age of 83. Lorenzo, "Uncle Jr." or "Juney", as he was known by many, was born on December 25, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas to Lawrence and Mercedes Peña. As the eldest son of 7 children, Lorenzo took pride in living a simple and honest life dedicated to family and faith, devoting many years of his life to caring for his beloved mother, Mercedes, until she went to be with the Lord in 1999. Lorenzo served 8 years in the U.S. National Guard, after which he worked as a caretaker for most of his life, embodying humility, hard work, and quiet dedication. He dedicated 25 years to the San Pedro Playhouse where he embraced and supported the arts. His faith and church were at the core of his being, serving as an usher at Our Lady of Sorrows Church for most of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 11298, serving as the Grand Knight for 5 years. He enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, watching classics shows and movies, and listening to his favorite classic country music. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and pranks, his unwavering work ethic, and the quiet presence he brought to those around him. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and siblings, Dolores Peña, Anna Maria Lozano, Isabel Kern, Carlos Peña, Louis Peña and Catherine Garza. He is survived by his niece, Yvette Cardiel-Perez, who cherished and cared for him, as well as nieces: Alice Peña (Holly), Elizabeth Martinez (Lisa), Priscilla Hubbard and MaryAnne Morris; and nephews: Peter Kern, David Kern, Richard Kern, Carlos Peña Jr. and Barnardo Peña, and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Alamo Funeral Chapel located at 624 N. Alamo, San Antonio, TX 78215, and the Rosary will begin at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated the following morning, Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, located at 3107 North St. Mary's St., San Antonio, TX 78212. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Please note: There will be no funeral procession to the church or to the cemetery. All guests are asked to meet directly at the church and then at the cemetery.
