Loreta Paglia Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels - Waltham on Feb. 25, 2026.
Loreta Paglia of Newton passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, February 22, 2026. She was 95 years old.

Born on November 13, 1930, in Alvito, Italy, she was the beloved daughter of the late Cesidio and Rosaria (Cedrone) Paglia. Loreta immigrated to the United States as a young woman at the age of 16, settling in Newton, Massachusetts, where she made her home for the rest of her life.

Loreta was the heart of her family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, nothing in this world was more important to her than her loved ones. She treasured every moment spent together - especially family gatherings around the table. An amazing cook, Loreta found her greatest joy in feeding others, always making sure no one ever left her home hungry.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and taking many memorable trips to the casino. She had a lively spirit, a warm smile, and a generous heart that touched everyone who knew her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cesidio "Joe" Paglia; her dear daughter, Anna Marie Battista; and her brothers, Daniel and Nazareno Paglia.

Loreta was surrounded by her devoted and loving children, the late Anna Battista and her husband Tony; Rita Leone and her husband Daniel; Rick Paglia and his wife Gail; and Doreen Vaglica and her husband Joe; her cherished grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Jennifer, Danny, Ricky, Nicole, Marissa, and Michael; her adored great-grandchildren, Ana, Sophia, Gabby, Drew, Elliana, DJ, Jackson, Dylan, Olivia, Christian, Jack, Will, and Hallie; and her beloved sister, Donata Giusti. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Loreta's life was a beautiful example of love, sacrifice, and devotion to family. Her legacy will live on in the traditions she created, the recipes she shared, and the countless memories held close by those who were blessed to know and love her.

Family & Friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Loreta's Life to remember the love and friendship she shared with so many others in her lifetime during Visiting Hours in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Friday morning February 27th from 10am until 12pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12noon. Burial will be held in Newton Cemetery.
