Scott Duplessis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels - Waltham on Feb. 20, 2026.
Scott M. Duplessis, 54, of Hudson, formerly of Waltham, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Waltham on February 8, 1972, the beloved son of the late Marc and Paulette Duplessis (Shinnick).

Scott was an outgoing soul with a wide circle of lifelong friends who are deeply impacted by his passing. Quick to laugh and never far from a cigarette, he could often be found scrolling through his phone, connecting with friends locally and keeping in touch with family in Canada. He seemed to be everyone's friend, the familiar face present at gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments alike.

In his younger years, Scott considered himself a "punk" (we won't talk about the dumpster and fort fires), yet in time he grew deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. He often reflected on the beauty of God's creation, finding strength and peace in it. It is a comfort to those who loved him that, at the time of his passing, Scott had just attended Mass and recently received the Sacrament of Confession, a testament to the faith that guided him, especially through life's many personal hardships.

Scott loved his children, family, and friends above all else. He had a passion for football, and many can recall his famous Thanksgiving Day fumble recovery. He never missed a chance to belt out a favorite song by Bob Seger during karaoke. He loved driving (the longer the trip, the better), spending time with friends, and endlessly watching food preparation videos on his phone, it was safe to say he loved food… a lot! He also cherished traveling to Canada to visit his father and countless relatives who he kept in close touch with.

Despite enduring personal tragedy, Scott met life with perseverance, humor, and unwavering faith, taking each day as it came.

Predeceased by his beloved parents and his dear brother, Paul Duplessis.

Scott is survived by his loving children Marlana and Novalee, along with other cherished family members and relatives. He also leaves behind many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and presence.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather, remember and celebrate the love and friendship Scott shared with us all during visiting hours on Saturday, February 21st, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels located, 773 Moody Street Waltham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church located, 133 School Street, Waltham.

Burial will be held privately for Scott's family.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.

Parking attendance will be on duty
