Loretta June "Wells" Atkins

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Loretta Atkins, who departed this life on August 8, 2025 at the age of 65. She passed away at her home in McAlester, OK, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Born on March 11, 1960 in Dallas, Texas; Loretta dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother, a nurturing soul, and the heart of our home. Her gentle guidance, warm hugs, and endless support shaped the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Loretta had a quiet strength and a generous spirit. Whether through a listening ear, or an encouraging word, she gave freely and loved deeply. Her laughter filled our lives, and her wisdom will remain with us always.

Loretta is survived by her sister, Sheran Wells of Hartshorne; sons: Jesse and Brittney Little of McAlester; and Kenneth & Kristina Little of Crowder; daughter: Samantha and Jeff Staples of McAlester, grandchildren: Bryce, Brayden, Sam, Carlie, Everly, Peyton, Cambrey, Cayson, Patience, Kolby, and great grandson Joe Henry; best friend, Sylvia Jefferson of McAlester; nieces and nephews; Tony, Cheyanna, Jessica, Dustin, Christina, and many other beloved relatives and countless dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She also cherished her beloved fur babies; Penny, Chase, Benji, Chloe, Callie, and Wittle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marty Atkins, Father Martin (Buddy) Wells, Mother Faye Voelker, Sisters Marie Wagoner and Karen Bristow, Niece Bobbie Dawn Simmons, and Nephew Christopher Wells.

A celebration of Loretta's life will be held on August 12, 2025 at 1:00pm at Bishop Funeral Home in McAlester, OK. Family will host a private burial at a later date. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in remembering her remarkable life.

Though she may be gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. We love you, Mom, Nana, and Nene.
