Loretta Brustman Obituary
GUILDERLAND - Loretta DeMartini Brustman, age 80, of Guilderland, N.Y., passed at home, May 21, 2024. Born and raised in Manhattan, she then earned degrees in microbiology and genetics from Cornell University and NYU. Her early working years were spent with the NYS Birth Defects Institute in Albany, with her research published in the journal, Nature.
Married in 1968 and living in Guilderland, Loretta focused on raising a family. She was sweet, devoted and adored. In later years, she worked at Karner Psychological Associates, serving families in the Capital District.
Loretta enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, dollhouses, visiting national parks and time with her grandchildren. Extensive travels took her to five continents.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Brustman; son, Daniel Brustman and wife, Junpei; daughter, Caroline Gilbert and husband, Edward; and grandchildren, Tyler and Maya Gilbert.
There will be a memorial service in the coming months.
