Loretta Davis Ellis passed away on August 15, 2023, in Somerville Texas. Visitation for Loretta will be held from 9am – 11am, on Saturday August 26, 2023, at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, Texas. Funeral service will follow at 11am, with brother George Khrone officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Lyons Community cemetery.
Loretta Davis was born to Albert Davis Jr. and Versie B. Davis on November 22, 1955. She became a member to Christ’s Church at an early age. She attended and completed Emmett J. Scott School and went to work for the Brenham State School. Loretta married Milton Ellis and divorced sometime after. Loretta will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her 5 brothers, Earnest Nix Jr., Terry Lee Davis, Richard Brooks, Leornard Davis, and Robert Davis, 2 sisters Katie Davis and Beatrice Davis.
Loretta Ellis leaves to mourn a daughter Valencia Davis of Somerville, TX; a son Jasmin Ellis (Natalie) of Caldwell, TX; a sister Annie Hornsby of Bryan, TX; a sister-in-law Ola Davis of Somerville, TX; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers are Jasmin Hornsby, Johnnie Sweed, Jasmin Ellis, James Simpson, Kenyida Hagan, Deonte Hagan and Tremaine Jones.
