Robert "Bob" Ellis, 81, of Hopkinsville, KY died Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN.

Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Hurricane, WV he was born October 29, 1944 the son of the late Alvin Ray Ellis and Lillian Croson Ellis. Bob was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Following his military service, Bob went on to work and later retire from Phelps Dodge. Bob was a member of Southside Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bob was also an active member of the Pennyroyal Honor Guard and volunteered to help ensure that all fallen veterans received military honors.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Burch.

Survivors include his wife: Carolyn Shaw-Ellis; his daughters: Angela (Larry) Barber of Hopkinsville, KY, Dana (Troy) Schilling of Concord, AR, and Skylar (Johnny) Mitchell of Corbin, KY; his grandchildren: Chantale Bush, Dustin Thomas, Brittany Brock, Caroline Reyes, T.J. Schilling, Lillian Mitchell, and Stella Mitchell; and four great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West Wreathes Trust.
