Loretta Jean Bettis Garner departed her earthly home to be with her heavenly Father on September 1, 2022 she was 83 years old. Loretta was born on July 20, 1939 to Nandel Bettis and Leslie Tucker in Gosport, Alabama. She was affectionately known as Nani by all of her family and friends. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved The Lord very much. Loretta graduated in 1957 from Gosport High School.
She was married to Elijah Garner Sr. for 65 wonderful years. They were blessed with four children Elijah Jr., Sheila, Brenda, and Lyndon. She moved to Lewisville, Tx. in 1965 and worked as an engineer and Interior Minister (Internal Home Affairs) for American Televangelism Aide.
Loretta was a member of Word of Faith Family Church under the leadership of Robert Tilton for 18 years. During her time there she was the Pastor's Aide, a Prayer Warrior, and served on the Usher Board. She would later relocate and become a member of the Redemption Life Worship Center, under the leadership of Pastors Keith and Kimberly Jenkins, where she served on the Usher Board and was the Mother of the Church.
She was a soft-spoken person with an affectious spirit and personality that captured everyone she met. She received her awards by living her life for Christ and was honored to share with everyone the many blessing that The Lord would give to you if you gave your life to Him.
Loretta is preceded in death by her husband Elijah Garner Sr., both parents Nandel Bettis and Leslie Tucker, four brothers Fredrick Bettis, Jimmy Lee Bettis, Cedric Hudson, and Samuel Hudson Jr., one sister Lorraine McKalpian, and her son Elijah Garner Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Sheila Garner Denton(Lonnie) Brenda Garner, son Lyndon Garner, daughter in law Verena Garner(Elijah Jr.), and sister Linda Franks. Grandchildren Eiljah Garner III, Ashley Garner, Elisah Garner, Claudia Denton, Brandon Denton (Elena), and Atavia Garner. Great-Grandchildren Cadence, Justice, Claudia, Demien, Elizabeth, Alexander, Jamaria, Loyalty, and Aaliyah. Also special friends Helen Vance, Joyce Brown and Linda Harvey. Special daughter Karla Bluitt.
A memorial service will be held Saturday September 17, 2022, at 3:30pm at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home chapel 740 S. Edmonds Ln. Lewisville, Tx 75067.
