Loretta Eleanor Hardman

Loretta Elanor Hardman, 82, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 17, 2025. Born in the Bronx, New York on December 5, 1942, she carried her vibrant New York accent with her when she moved to Northern Virginia later in life.
Over 40 years ago, Loretta returned to school to become a cosmetologist, a career that perfectly suited her. She found joy in making her clients feel beautiful and loved meeting new people. Her quick wit, generous spirit, and knack for making everyone laugh were her trademarks. Her home was always filled with the gentle pitter-patter of her cherished pets, and her greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends.
Loretta formed a group called "The Lunch Ladies," who met monthly to celebrate birthdays or simply the love they shared. Once you were Loretta's friend, it was for life; you could always count on her unwavering loyalty and honest advice.
A true character, Loretta had many passions. She loved her TV shows, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed event planning. However, her greatest passion was playing poker (Poker Stars and World Tavern League), particularly Texas Hold'em. She spent several days a week at the poker table, and her dedication paid off when she won first place on a cruise-a feat she proudly, and rightly, bragged about.
Loretta is survived by her son, Tom Polera (Catherine); her daughter, Lora Francisco (Mike); her grandchildren, Michelle Polera, Nicole Nicastro (Jake), Nicholas Polera (Taryn), Jonathan Moran (Jessica), Lindsay Polera, and her great-grandchildren, Valentina, Dale, and Margot.
Her legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will be carried on by all who knew and adored her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta's memory to the ASPCA or the Humane Society of Fairfax County.
A funeral mass will be held on October 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Timothy Catholic Church located at 13807 Poplar Tree Road, Chantilly, VA. This will be followed by "Celebration of Life" at Noon at Blue Valley Vinyard and Winery located at 5535 Blue Vly Wy, Delaplane, VA.
