Loretta Higgins Obituary
Loretta was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to Margaret Loraine and Breece Higgins. She was lovingly raised by her mother and Barney Ozment, who played a significant role in shaping the compassionate woman she became.
A graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in communication, Loretta was a gifted actor who graced film, theatre, and television stages throughout her career. She was a proud member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity, and received critical acclaim for her heartbreaking starring role in "Moon for the Misbegotten" at the Attic Theatre.
Loretta's generous spirit extended far beyond the stage. She was deeply committed to serving her community, volunteering her time with organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, among others. Her volunteer work was a source of great fulfillment and reflected her caring nature.
She will be profoundly missed by her loving husband of 29 years, Manny Brown, and her two sons, David Brown and Nick Brown. Loretta also leaves behind her cherished grandson, Cooper, who brought immense joy to her life, and her dog, Bradley who guarded her until the end.
Loretta is survived by her siblings Bruce Higgins, Jennifer Ozment, Paul Ozment, and Ivan Ozment, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Don and Pete.
Loretta was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her warmth, talent, and dedication to helping others will be remembered by her many friends and all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017 on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Michigan 48009 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 10am. For those who cannot attend, the Mass will be live-streamed here.
Memorials are appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or a Charity of Donor's Choice.
