Lois McClure White, 95, passed away on January 22, 2026. She was born in 1930 in Harlan County, KY and was the daughter of Moss and Flora Farmer. A graduate of Lincoln Memorial and Michigan State Universities, Lois taught in the Royal Oak and Albion, MI, public schools until retirement. In 1977 she was honored with an Excellence in Teaching award and was always active in the life of her schools and communities.

Lois was elected and served as Mayor of Albion from 1993 to 1995, spearheading projects to improve water quality, among other efforts. She served on a number of boards and committees, including Johnson Day Care, the Albion Historical Society, Albion Community Foundation, Albion Housing Authority, Albion Downtown Development, and the Albion River Committee. She was instrumental in initiating the Festival of the Forks and in the restoration of the Ismon House. Lois was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the AAUW.

Lois's 1950 marriage to Willard Frick ended, after which she married Jack McClure, who died in 1992. In 1993, she married Leon White, a Presbyterian Minister, who passed away in 2023.

Lois was also regarded as a mother and grandmother by Leon's own family as well as the McClure family. Lois is survived by son Thomas Frick of Los Angeles, CA, Ian Frick (Leslie) of Franklin, MI, stepdaughter, Jennifer White of Pleasanton, CA, stepsons Peter White (Joanne) of Montreal, QC, Scott McClure (Louise) of Allegan, MI, Jim McClure (Adele) of Muskogee, OK, Tom McClure (Brenda) of Albion, MI, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eleven step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Leon White and Jack McClure, sister Betty Duvall, brother Frank Farmer and stepson John McClure.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place in Albion, MI, later in June followed by the burial at the Riverside Cemetery. The date and details are yet to be determined.
