Loretta Minor

Loretta Mae Minor was our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and, most recently, great-great-grandmother, known to us all as "Grandma Retta".

She was born January 5th, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frank and Vera Young. She passed away on March 28th, 2026, in Tooele, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old.

Loretta is preceded in death by her sister, Majorie Ruth Powell, and her husband of 53 years, Marcus Minor.

Together, Loretta and Marcus raised four daughters: Marla (Mike) Wilson, Lois (Tracy) Harris, Marjorie (Mike) Jensen, and Michelle (Steve) Knight. She always felt that family was the meaning of her whole life. That life was enriched by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Over her lifetime, Loretta held many positions. She was a licensed beautician, a Timekeeper at the Marine Corps base in Barstow, CA, a Tooele County Deputy Assessor, and a Realtor. Her favorite position, however, was being a mother and grandmother.

Loretta excelled at many creative pursuits. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, puzzles, and painting the many birdhouses that Marcus would build for her. She was an exceptional trap shooter and won many trophies for her skill. She enjoyed any time spent with family, whether that was boating, fishing, camping, or hunting. She always said, "Family is most important".

Services will be held on Friday, April 3rd, 2026, at the Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, UT, at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held before the service from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment at the Tooele City Cemetery will follow the services.
