Loretta Reavis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ballard Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Loretta May Reavis, 91, of Cody and formerly of Thermopolis, died Feb. 2, 2026, at Spirit Mountain Hospice from complications of congestive heart failure.

Loretta was born May 17, 1934, in Atkinson, Nebraska, to Edward and Louella McDonald. The family later moved to Lander, Wyoming, where she attended Lander High School and worked at the New-Way Cafe. Shortly after graduating, she met her husband of 61 years, Owen Dean Reavis, while working at the cafe. They married in 1954.

The couple had two sons and settled in Thermopolis. There, she continued working in restaurants and additionally started her own business, Flowers by Loretta. In the 1980s, seeking more adventure, she and Dean moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she worked at Texas Station, the Golden Nugget, and the Las Vegas Convention Center.

In 2003, she and her husband moved to Cody to be closer to family. While living in Cody, she worked at The Landing Cafe, and after retiring, she became involved in the Cody Senior Center, serving several terms on its board.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 10 of her 11 siblings.
She is survived by her sister, JoAnn; her sons, Calvin and Jay; and her grandsons, Eric, Brandon, and Brian.

A burial service will be held at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis on Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cody Senior Center.
