Loretta Rubin, a lifelong resident of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully on her 94th birthday, March 10, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Rubin. Devoted mother of Carol Throne (George) and Brenda Cohen (Hal). Loving Nanny of Rachel (Ron), Jared (Melissa), and Bryan (Brianna); and cherished great-grandmother of Jaden Shai and Liam Ezra.
Loretta was the dear sister of the late Norman Hyman and sister-in-law of the late Estelle Hyman and Rita Botel, whom she lovingly thought of as sisters. She will also be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, who thought of her like a mother, as well as by her many friends and neighbors on Haven Road.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Loretta was known for her warmth, generosity, and exceptional cooking, which brought family and friends together for many memorable meals. An active member of Temple Shalom, Loretta served as President of the Sisterhood and dedicated herself to her community. She was a cafeteria aide for Neshaminy School District for many years, as well as a volunteer for more than 25 years at St. Mary Medical Center, where she earned VIP status in recognition of her many years of service.
In her later years, Loretta enjoyed creating ceramics and became known for her feisty spirit and quick wit, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. During the last two years of her life, Loretta was cared for by four wonderful “angels,” aides and nurses who assisted her: Lisa, Maria, Ellen, and Jackie. They played games with her, encouraged her to eat, and became like family. They treated her as if she were their own grandmother, especially during the final six weeks of her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her service on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Burns Funeral Home, 1514 Woodbourne Road, Levittown, PA. Interment will follow at King David Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.
Shiva will be held Sunday, March 15, Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Carol’s home, 6353 John Hancock Court, Bensalem, PA 19020. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Loretta’s memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306; the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA 19106; or the American Heart Association, 1617 JFK Blvd., Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
