Loretta E. Schoenmann, 86, of Rochester, MN passed away January 29, 2025, at Cottagewood Living Community in Rochester, MN.
Loretta was born October 11, 1938, in Brockway, Pennsylvania to Henry and Helen (Kolash) Bonavida. She graduated high school in Pennsylvania. Loretta met Harold in Virginia, while Harold was in the Army, and they were married on January 17, 1959, in Brockway, Pennsylvania. Soon after their marriage, they made their home in Rochester, MN where they raised four children, Gerald, Sharon, Mark, and Diane. As the children got older, Loretta went to work at the snack bar and student center at John Marshall High School. In her fifties, Loretta returned to school for nursing. She worked at several long-term care facilities and retired from Charter House-Mayo Clinic.
Loretta was energetic and always on the move. She enjoyed riding horses, driving motorcycles, walking, bicycling, waterskiing, bowling, camping, loved to go to the gym, and would never turn down a polka. She taught CCD classes at St. Frances Catholic Church and to her children. She was friendly, outgoing, had many friends and enjoyed making people laugh. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and watching them play hockey, baseball and volleyball.
Loretta is survived by her children, Gerald (Kristi) Schoenmann of Rochester, MN, Sharon (Mitchell) Dahl of Rochester, MN, Mark (Sande) Schoenmann of Oronoco, MN, and Diane (Duane) Helgerson of Eyota, MN; grandchildren, Adam (Katie) Dahl, Aaron (Brit Susdorf) Dahl, Megan (Chris) Cunningham, Cody Schoenmann, Kelsi Helgerson; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Cunningham, Ella, Landon and Vivienne Dahl, Deliliah Peshon, Avery Schoenmann; her sisters, Bonnie (Tom) Cook and Debbie (Bernie) Fye both of Pennsylvania.
