Loretta Elizabeth Sigafus, 89, of North Mankato, passed away August 18, 2022, with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Joseph and Frances (Roiger) Weingartz, on September 2, 1932, in Mankato. Loretta graduated from Good Counsel High School in 1950 and worked for the Mankato Citizens Telephone Company.
She married the late Robert Schumacher in 1953 whom passed in 1979; and married Allen Sigafus in 1984. Loretta is survived by her husband Allen; eight children, Kay (Dave) Rock, Michael Schumacher, Judy Jacobs, Jacob (Carol) Schumacher, Joseph (Kris) Schumacher, Gustaf (Lisa) Schumacher, James Schumacher, Tina (Bob) Gregor and William (Nena) Schumacher; five stepchildren, Katy (Dave) Wortel, Bob (Cathy) Sigafus, Paul (Rita) Sigafus, Chris (Vance) Watkins and Phil (Marguex) Sigafus; 26 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Laurie (Robert “Jake”) Jacobs; three sisters, five brothers; and many family members.
Loretta was an avid artist, enjoyed Minnesota sports, member of the VINE singing choir, and attended church at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. She passed on her faith and appreciation of art and music to all of her children and grandchildren; and cherished time spent with great grandchildren as well. Loretta was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be given to Mayo Clinic Hospice or the donor’s choice.
