Loretta Katherine Adams Storey (pronounced Lorita) was born January 9, 1936 in Staten Island, NY to Don Quincy Adams and Lillian Minetta Belisle. She had an older brother named Robert Adams (Bob). She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Lyman Storey, daughter Shauna Ann Storey and son Samuel Allen Storey. She is survived by son Robert Paul Storey. Don and Lillian divorced when Loretta was about 9 years old. Loretta began an adventure of traveling to many cities in the U.S. with her Mother. She attended and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. Loretta had aspirations of becoming a doctor and was a very good student in spite of having to take various jobs as a restaurant server to help the family finances. As one dream closed, another opened as she discovered her love for numbers. She was always a quick learner and enjoyed the challenge and "puzzle" of figuring out a company's finances. She was doing budgets and calculations the day before she passed. She recognized the importance of being present for her children and so she took odd jobs like driving a school bus and teaching dance lessons. Some of her favorite stories were of white knuckle rides through Kansas City during some of the treacherous ice storms. Loretta had an undying love for children. She was active in the LDS church and on more than one occasion threatened to leave the church if released from teaching primary. She didn't know all the adults in her West Provo neighborhood, but she knew ALL the children. Halloween was such a fun time for her to see all the kids in their costumes parading to her door. She spent a lot of time doing genealogy. She loved the stories and lore of her ancestors and spoke about them often, but did not love the submission and administrative aspect of it. She served as a Family Search missionary and did her best to help new users navigate the system and solve problems. Loretta lived independently until a fall and broken bones forced her into a rehab facility. Although she never regained her independence, she kept her fiery spirit and faith till her final day.
Her funeral service will be held in the chapel at Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park located at 17111 South Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, Utah, 84058. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 27th at 12:00PM. The Graveside will follow at 1PM.
