Loretta M. Strock, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at East Park Memory Care Facility in Brook Park, Ohio on July 10, 2025. She was born in Seattle, Washington on March 28, 1936. When she was young, after living in Michigan, she moved with her family to Beckley, West Virginia. Loretta graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley in 1954 and she received a special reward for her excellent public speaking abilities. She then attended and graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, New York. At a young age, Loretta dedicated herself to the Lord's service. For over 60 years, after being appointed by Baptist Mid Missions in Cleveland, she served as a missionary in France, first in Ris Oranges, and then in Reims. She loved the French people and she embraced their culture and language. Loretta faithfully witnessed for The Lord and developed countless relationships in France. Her work there included many facets of church ministry, including working in youth camps. After "retiring" from her missionary work, she applied for and was accepted to teach English at the local Reims, France, Community Center. Her students were mostly older people and she made many new friends. After "retiring" from teaching English, she began to receive a small pension from the French Government! Loretta was an avid reader and had a never ending thirst for more knowledge about God's Holy Word. She was also a faithful prayer warrior. When her health began to fail, Loretta moved to Brook Park from France two years ago, to be near the Baptist Mid Missions home office and to be closer to her family. Since moving here, she became a part of the family at Abram Creek Baptist Church in Brook Park and faithfully attended as long as she was able to. Loretta is survived by: three brothers, Frank Strock of Binghamton, New York, Paul Strock (Lauren) of Bronxville, New York, and Steve Strock (Kathryn) of Milan, Ohio; two nephews, four nieces, and several great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Elihu and Irene (nee Mulville) Strock; her sister-in-law, Sharon Strock; and a nephew. Friends will be received on Tuesday July, 15, 2025, from 10:30am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30am at Abram Creek Baptist Church, 18664 Sheldon Road, Brook Park. Pastor James Beight, Chaplain Jeff Cunningham, and Ministry Intern, Logan Howard, will co-officiate the service. The burial will be private. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Baptist Mid Missions. Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is handling the arrangements.
