Loretta June (Pilant) Vinson, age 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Oak Pointe in
Carthage, Missouri. She was born on May 22, 1935, in
Cassville, Missouri, to Fred and Eva (Dilbeck) Pilant.
Loretta grew up as the second of five children in a home built by her father near Flat Creek outside of
Cassville, Missouri. She met her husband Bill through gospel singing and the two were married in Cassville on June 6,1953. While her husband Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, she worked at Rowland's department store on the Cassville square. The couple made their home in Springfield, Missouri, managing the Shamrock Hotel while Bill completed his college degree.
They later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for Bill's work with Ohio Oil Company. During that time, Loretta worked in the office at Harry Cooper Supply until the birth of their first daughter, Teresa. She then devoted herself to her family as a homemaker - a role she cherished throughout her life. In the 1960s, the family returned to southwest Missouri where they purchased a farm and welcomed their second daughter, Tina. Shortly after they bought a farm in the Sarcoxie community, where Loretta and Bill made their home for nearly 60 years. In the mid-1970s, Loretta opened Motif Ceramics in Sarcoxie, where she held ceramics painting classes. She later painted for many years at Cartwright Ceramics in Joplin, Missouri.
Loretta was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sarcoxie and was devoted to study of the Bible and church choir. She was known for her love of family, homemaking, and warmly hosting guests from their church and community. She also expressed her care through crafting, especially sewing and quilting for those she loved. Her home was always a place of welcome and good food - reflecting her servant's heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Brown (husband, Greg) and Tina Augustine (husband, Charlie Hughes); grandchildren, Trevor Brown, Taryn Brown, Charity Hootman, Casie Augustine, and Blake Augustine; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Wilma Miller (husband, Hal); and her brother, Carroll Pilant (wife, Lisa).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva Pilant; her brothers, Howard Pilant and Leonard Pilant (wife, Sara Pilant); and her beloved husband, Bill Vinson.
Her Celebration of Life and visitation will be jointly held with that of her husband, Bill, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at First Baptist Church of
Sarcoxie, Missouri. Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Pilant Cemetery,
Cassville, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church or to Pilant Family Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home website www.housh-goodwinfuneralhome.com.
