Lowellville – Loretta C. Walkama, 102, of Lowellville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at her home.
Born July 21, 1923, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of John and Anna (Wacker) Arnold.
On October 13, 1945, Loretta married the love of her life, Eugene Walkama. The two shared almost 67 beautiful years of marriage until Eugene's passing in 2012. Loretta devoted much of her life to raising her children in a warm and loving home. She loved her sweets, enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby, and cherished every moment spent with her family. She was known for hosting Sunday dinners, watching her favorite soap operas, and baking treats for those she loved. A longtime member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Loretta also enjoyed playing card games-winning more often than not-and took great pride in being "Grandma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Walkama of Poland, OH; her sons, Robert Walkama of Lowellville, Wayne (Diane) Walkama of Lowellville, Alan (Nancy) Walkama of Salem, and James (Marsha) Walkama of Poland, OH; eight grandchildren, Lynzie (Brian), Gary (Carly), Jessica, Abbey, Annalise, Allie (Randy), Madison, and Harrison; and great-grandchildren Austin, Olivia, Gabriel, and Callan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Jean Walkama; brothers, John, George, Louis, Victor, Alois, Charles, and Frank ; and sisters, Anna, Thelma, and Virginia.
Family and friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, Ohio. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 131 E. Wood St., Lowellville, OH 44436. Interment will follow at Lowellville Cemetery.
