Loretta Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford / Ray Funeral Home on Jan. 5, 2026.
On January 4, 2026, with shouts of Hallelujah, Loretta Voyles Walker entered her eternal heavenly home. She was met at the gates of Heaven by the smiling love of her life, Hubert, as well as many family members and friends.

Born on February 28, 1937, and raised in the Ranger Community of Cherokee County, Loretta was the older daughter of Felix & Vernie Stiles Voyles. She was a proud graduate of Murphy High School.

For many years, Loretta worked at the Brown, Ward, Haynes & Griffin Law Firm in Waynesville, North Carolina, as legal secretary to Glenn W. Brown. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville, where she was a devoted Sunday School member.

In retirement, Loretta continued to serve her community by volunteering in the Haywood Christian Ministry and visiting the homebound church community. She enjoyed traveling with Hubert, visiting the West Coast, Europe, & Canada. She loved to cook, tend to her flowers and watch the birds and rabbits in her backyard.

To know Loretta Walker was to see a daily living example of God's love and charitable service to others, particularly the poor and less fortunate. She lived her faith. Being a mother was one of the greatest blessings of Loretta's life. She loved her son Thomas deeply and was extremely proud of him and his accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert Walker, as well as her remarkable sister Imagean Voyles Adams and her husband, Ray.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Walker, his wife, Farah Lisa, and her grandson, Elias, as well as her wonderful nieces and nephew, and their beautiful spouses, children, and grandchildren. Her sister's family brought great joy to Loretta throughout her life.

The world will miss Loretta Walker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Waynesville.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 100 South Main Street, Waynesville, North Carolina.
