The world was blessed with Loretta Louise (White) Slagle on May 8, 1932, and lived an incredible life for 92 years. She took her last earthly breath on the morning of September 10, 2024. She will live on through her husband Perry Neal Slagle, younger brother Kyle White, daughter Melissa Christine Coursey, son-in-love Clay Coursey, grandchildren Faith, Robert, Kaitlyn and Alex, and sweet great-grandchildren Leyla and Leon. Loretta has joined her loved ones in heaven; her parents M.C. & Dorothy White, brothers Lawrence and Monroe White, and sisters Francis Burris and Linda Blackshear.
Loretta was born in Houston, attended San Jacinto High School, graduated from Hardin Simmons University, and mastered from UCLA. She taught English, Creative Writing, and Drama for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS). She had 28 years of overseas adventures living in Puerto Rico, Japan, Okinawa, and the Philippines. Along the way, she and her husband adopted a cute Korean baby girl to share their love and adventures with. Loretta and Perry retired in 1993 staking their homestead in Bryan, Texas, near family but continued their adventures traveling by RV across the United States, Canada, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Africa. They trekked through Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Egypt, Jordan, China, Antarctica and even made it to the Galapagos Islands, covering all seven continents. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading, keeping up with the news, and rooting for the Aggies.
