Loretta Mae Woods, age 84, of Watson, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Evergreen Health and Rehab Center in Effingham, Illinois.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Cemetery. Memorials may go to Watson Baptist Church or the donor's choice.
Loretta was born on April 13, 1941 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Don and Opal (McArtor) Smith. She married Charles Woods on May 19, 1978 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was a former member of the Watson Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Woods of Watson, IL; sons, Curt (Amanda) Johnson of Mason, IL, Mark (Kasandra) Johnson of Charleston, IL, Darren (Cheryl) Johnson of Watson, IL; Craig (Whitlee) Woods of Carthage, MO; daughter, Debbie (Stanley) Alwardt of Edgewood, IL; brother, Kenneth Smith of Holly, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Opal Smith; son, Brett Johnson; sister, Linda Matlock; and brother, Donald "Sonny" Smith.
