On Sunday June 15, 2025, Lorgine Joly, 88, passed away peacefully. She was born in Los Poetes, in Belladere, Haiti. She was the only daughter of four children born to Loriana Robert and Silinus Jean. Early in her life Lorgine saw the value of an education and pursued studies to become a teacher, she taught in Ponce. Throughout her life she helped many family members and young children attend school, because she believed that a good education could help a person to improve their quality of life and give them options. In her early 20's Lorgine married Jean Lauret Abraham (pre-deceased) with whom she had two sons, Patrick and Jean-Richard Abraham. As a wife, and mother she set her sights on using her teaching career to open new pathways for better opportunities. Lorgine was remarried to Gerard Joly (pre-deceased) with whom she had two sons Robby and Claude. During her marriage she emigrated to the United States seeking opportunities to embark on a new life filled with greater potential to make an impact for her family and the people of Haiti. Lorgine and her husband were business entrepreneurs in Haiti and ran a successful trucking company until her husband's untimely death, although widowed she continued to run the family business full time. Lorgine had many gifts, one was that of Godly wisdom. When anyone spoke with her, she was always remembered for her kindness, patience, business acumen and great sense of humor. Lorgine loved to laugh, travel and she was a wizard at Chinese checkers. Everyone walked away with a lesson blessing when she conversed with you, she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She lived a life of love, peace, authenticity, and philanthropy. She loved God with all her heart and positively believed in the Lord's promises. Promises to improve life in Haiti for His people, and for all people. Her greatest desire was to return to her home in Haiti. She deeply believed that God could make a way in the most difficult situations through prayer, belief, and most importantly forgiveness. Lorgine would ask that our hearts not be heavy in her absence, but in all things lean not on your own understanding but rely on God.
Lorgine is survived by her four sons Patrick (Authurine), Jean Richard (Michelle), Robby (Jennifer), and Claude (Kerry). Her grandchildren, Richard, Jeffrey, James, Naomi, Sarah, Diamonte, Justin, Gabriella, Max, Amel, and several great-grandchildren. She had close relationships with her in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends and family members in the US and Haiti. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
