Lori Anderson affectionately known as "Yo-Yo" began her life's journey on April 24, 1959 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Carl and Myrtle Anderson. She departed this life on October 24, 2025 in Lexington, Kentucky. Lori was educated in the Newark Public School System, where she attended Dayton Street School and Malcom X. Shabazz High School. After graduating Malcolm X Shabazz High School in 1977, Lori received certification as a Data Entry Specialist from the American Business Institute in 1991. Drawing on a blend of strong communication skills and an analytical approach, Lori built a versatile career spanning the Customer Service, Data Entry, and Collections sectors.

In 1980, Lori and her parents moved to East Orange, New Jersey. Lori was the proud mother of four children: Kawanna, Jamar, Terrell and Sierra. As a single-mother, Lori infused love and joy into her children. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing education and wise decision- making. Lori was a devoted daughter to her parents. Lori's commitment to her family was unfailing. As a grandmother, her love and acts of service were endless. She was deeply connected to her family and had strong bonds with her grandchildren, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.

In 2008, Lori relocated to Lexington, Kentucky where she and her older sister Janis became sister-friends. Lori took her role in the family very seriously and fiercely defended her tribe--She could be depended upon to have your "back" when the chips were down.

Truly, Lori Anderson was singular and exceptional. Lori's magnetic personality allowed her to connect with anyone-No matter how young, old or different you might be from her, Lori could bridge the gap and forge a meaningful relationship with you. She never met a stranger and just a fleeting conversation with her could make someone feel like they had known her their entire life. If you know…you know.

Lori was a very imaginative and creative person, a masterful storyteller who could regale listeners with her tales. To take it a step further, Lori could be nicknamed the "Queen of the Quip". She was a colorfully-outspoken individual with razor-sharp wit and comedic timing that would leave those around her utterly speechless. Her witticisms were unparalleled. Lori was a fun-loving prankster who seemed to receive her inspiration from a bottomless chasm of creativity. Truly, if you had the honor of being in her presence you were in for a unique encounter. There were several options: You could expect to be encouraged, entertained or told-off until your head spun around. If you were on the receiving end of chastisement, you also had good odds of being comforted and encouraged when it was all over. If Lori loved you, you were a recipient of a gift more precious than gold because her love was deep and genuine. If Lori didn't like you, it was advisable to stay out of her line of sight, do not breathe, talk or do anything to draw attention to yourself!

Lori Anderson will be dearly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her devoted parents Myrtle Geraldine Bernard-Anderson and Carl Lee Anderson Sr. her brother, Carl William Anderson, Sister-in-law, Debra Goss Anderson, her uncles Benjamin Bernard Jr., John Bernard, Arthur Bernard, aunts Helen Bernard and Charlotte Anderson-Davis, niece Tianna Anderson and great-nephew Kobe.

Lori leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories; her children Kawanna Williams (Kenneth), Jamar Anderson, Terrell Moore and Sierra Moore, sister, Janis Kennedy (Kenneth), five grand-children, Juno Williams, Kairhi Williams, Karter Williams, Tyson Moore and Mateo Rodriguez, nephews Kenneth L. Kennedy Jr., Michael Kennedy and Carl Lee Anderson II, great nephews Carl, Carron, Jacari and Jamir, great-nieces Brooklynn and Kendra, great-great nephew Carl, great-great niece Esme, and her favorite-favorite cousin Karen "Niecy" Gordon.
