Lori Duron Obituary

Lori Lee Duron, 65, of Sunbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a prolonged heart condition.

She was born November 25, 1959, in Sunbury, the daughter of Ada Lee (Wise) Newman and the late Arden N. Newman. She was married to her devoted husband, Theodore "Teddy" Duron, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of loving marriage.

Lori attended Shikellamy School District and, after graduation, honorably served her country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. She was stationed in Seattle, Washington, where she met her husband, Teddy. Following her service, she worked for many years in the elderly care field, dedicating herself to helping others.

Lori found great joy and peace in nature. She loved hiking through the woods, taking in the beauty of every season. Time outside was a way for her to recharge and connect with the world around her, and she often shared those moments with her family. Whether it was camping trips, picnics or scenic drives, Lori's love of nature was a constant source of happiness in her life.

She also enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her dog, Chloe. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially her granddaughters, Milania and Jayleah, who were her pride and joy.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by:

• Brothers and a sister-in-law: Arden Newman of Craig, MT; Scott and Mary Newman of Sunbury

• Sister: Lisa (Newman) Costa of Sunbury

• Daughters and sons-in-law: Crystal Duron-Gilpin and Jeremy Gilpin of New Orleans, LA; Katelyn (Duron) Barlow and Brandon Barlow of Sunbury; and Cassie Duron

• Uncle and aunt: Edward and Beverly Wise of Cody, WY

• Cousin: Tracy (Wise) Apel of Golden Valley, AZ

• Nieces: Shannon Costa, Allison Costa, Heather Bennett, Hope Newman, and Julia Newman

• Nephews: Cody Heintzelman and his fiancée, Diana Eister; and Nicholas Newman

• Great-nephew: Tyler English

• Great-nieces: Morgan English, Cali Heintzelman, and Nellie Heintzelman

She was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Michael Newman; her maternal grandparents, Ida and Charles Wise; her uncle, Robert Wise; and her cousin, Eddie Wise.

Lori will be forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her. Rest in peace-we love you.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 25, 2025, from 5:00–6:00 p.m., followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 501 Catawissa Ave, Sunbury, PA 17801
