She was born on October 13, 1965, to Sandra Louise Austin in Dover, DE.
Lori worked as a clerk for the Delaware State Police for 30 years and was instrumental in establishing Megan's Law and the sex offender registry. She loved singing karaoke, and her favorite artists were Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty. Lori also loved watching her Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Dillon James Hegman, maternal grandparents, Sam & Helen Austin, and stepfather, Richard Carty.
Lori is survived by her husband of 29 years, Rodney, son, Austin Hegman, mother, Sandy Carty, aunt, JoAnn Burge, uncle, Larry Austin, and cousins, including two special cousins, Savannah & Emerson Austin.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE at 11am. A viewing will be held from 10 -11am. Burial will follow in Townsend, DE 19734.
