Lori Lyons-Phelps Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 20, 2024.
On December 18, 2024 Lori went to be with her parents and other loved ones in Heaven. Lori was born to James and Sarah Lyons of St. Clair Shores, MI., graduated from Lakeview High School, and then Michigan State University. Following her schooling, Lori started a career in accounting (which was her passion) at Michigan Consolidated Gas (MichCon). For the last 19 years, Lori found her true home at eTitle Agency where she met and became part of their family serving as Controller and Operations Manager at different times. She truly felt the love of the ownership and people she served with over the many great years, she could not give it up even as she approached retirement.
Lori was a devout Christian, left behind many loved ones, including her husband James who she married September 23, 1989; children Steve (Carrie) Phelps, Ken (Megan) Phelps, and Craig (Lynn) Phelps; grandchildren Ana Phelps, Isabella Phelps, Elana Phelps, Jack Phelps, James Phelps, Wyatt Bermea, Willow Bermea, and Noah Phelps; and sisters Linda (Mike) Toole and Patty Lyons; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides family, her closest friend since childhood, Sally Cunningham, was such a sincere and trusted friend who got together with Lori whenever possible.
Lori was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who valued her family above all else. Basically, Lori had three priorities in life: her husband, her children and friends, and her job (sometimes not in that order) She was a fierce supporter of the green and white, the Michigan State Spartans, who rarely missed a game of either football or basketball (sometimes cuddled into the fetal position when the game became close and tense), A 30 point lead was her only comfort zone. She was a constant supporter of friends and family at various school, sport, or choral functions. Lori leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and loving endlessly. She will be dearly missed by all, but especially her husband who will be lost without her companionship and incomparable love, may she now rest in Heaven!
A memorial service will be held for Lori on January 11, 2025 at the San Marino Club located at 1685 E. Big Beaver in Troy, MI. The service will begin at 11:00 and will include a time of sharing. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Detroit Zoo in Lori's name would be especially appreciated.
