Lori Tyson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - South Houston on Nov. 16, 2025.
Lori Ann Tyson, age 62, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born on February 9, 1963, in Rochester, New York, Lori was the beloved daughter of Sandra Tyson and Wilson Chandler.

Lori was educated in the Rochester City School District, attending Clara Barton Elementary School No. 2, West High Middle School, and Monroe High School. After completing her early schooling, she proudly earned her GED and continued her education at R.I.T. Community College, where she obtained a Master's degree in Marketing - an achievement that reflected her determination and drive.

In 1982, Lori moved from Rochester to Houston, Texas with her longtime companion, Theodore Martin. There, she was blessed with a rewarding career at BP Amoco Corporation, where she was valued for her dedication, intelligence, and strong work ethic.

A devoted and God-fearing woman, Lori's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved to pray, read the Bible, and listen to gospel music. She also enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, exercising, singing, and dancing - sharing joy, love, and warmth with everyone around her.

Lori fought bravely through her health journey, showing resilience, courage, and unwavering faith until God gently called her home.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Sandra Tyson; her sisters, Phyllis Tyson, Wanda Mosely, and Kolanda Tyson; her devoted companion, Theodore Martin; her beloved son, Nickalos Martin; and her great friend, Judy Wilson. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other close friends, her cherished church family, and extended family who will forever carry her in their hearts.

Lori Ann Tyson will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her deep faith, her loving heart, and the strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy of love and light remains with all who knew her.

Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:35–37:

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
