Lori VanSlett Obituary

Lori A. VanSlett, a beloved artist and cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on January 23, 2025, in Franklin, Wisconsin, at the age of 63. Born on July 23, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lori's life was marked by a vibrant spirit and a passion for creativity that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

As a very talented artist, Lori touched many lives with the murals she painted, each brushstroke reflecting her bright personality and her desire to spread joy through her art. Lori’s colorful, outspoken demeanor was indeed the life of the party; she danced like nobody was watching, often captivating her friends and family with her exuberance. Her selflessness was evident in how she cared deeply for those around her, making every moment spent with her a gift.

Lori found peace and happiness at the water, where she cherished countless beach days, a reminder of her happy place. She was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Milwaukee Brewers, and enjoyed gardening in her free time, perhaps using it as another canvas for her creativity.

Among her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. Lori is survived by her two daughters, Ashley (Kyle) Jenson and Nicole Klemme, who brought her immense pride and joy. Together with her beloved grandchildren—Hailey, Kylie, Arthur "AJ", Marlie, and McCartney "Mak"—Lori created a tapestry of love and nurturing that will carry on in their hearts.

Lori’s loving parents, Jeanne and the late John Semancik, provided her a foundation that fostered her vibrant spirit. She joins her late husband, Arthur, along with Arthur and Ethel VanSlett, her father and mother-in-law, in eternal rest. Lori is also survived by her siblings, Linda (Brian) Smallwood, John (Jolie) Semancik, and Mark (Lea) Semancik, who share in the profound loss of such a remarkable woman. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, her legacy of love will endure through all whose lives she touched.

Lori was particularly grateful for her best friend, Sue Monfre, whose companionship added depth and happiness to her life. As we gather to celebrate Lori's extraordinary life, let us remember the beautiful murals she left behind—not only on walls but also in our hearts.

Visitation will take place at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral and Cremation Mission Hills Chapel in Franklin, WI, on February 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew Lori to come together and honor her legacy of love, laughter, and artistry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to assist with funeral expenses appreciated.
